Ooh hey, add me. Friends are fun, ('specially friends who aren't idiots) I check your posts sometimes because you're jackies friend but there aren't ever any new entries. See now, I just thought you were slacking in the update department but really you're friends only, so it's a good thing you added that lil banner.
i admire your pictures, (the snake ones in particular, second only to the kittens)... as well as your erstwhile opiate community, or at least what it could have been had people posted more often with less stories about how they took vicodin for 2 days and have the 'shakes' and are 'wicked strung out'...
ah, why thanks! my snakes love being appreciated! or maybe i'm just so proud of them. if you like pics of snakes and the like, check out my friend's community 'herpphotography'.
yeah, there's always a lot of stupid people in drug communities. it's a given. but at least there was never any flame wars. i thought that was a great achievement ^_^
my opus.
it's nice to meet you and i'm glad to have a new friend hehe
Look, I came back. I was going through my portolio or portraits and I came across my "Little Lamb", so I thought I'd check in on you. Plus I missed your whining.
Hello there lamb, washem in the blood o' the lamb,
I'd very much like to be your friend, as I just started Gould's Book of Fish. Second book I've adored about the shrouded land of fugitive woes; Van Diemen's Land. It's a rough old world out there.
neat! seems like most people who have read that book didn't like it nearly as much as i did. i forced 3 of my friends to read it, and they were just like, 'ok. ... thanks for that.'
anyway. glad to meet you. did you find my journal via gould's book of fish?
We have a few mutual friends, and they recommended that I'd enjoy reading your journal and getting to know you. Hope you don't mind that I've added you to my friends list.
Hi there- I see you also like Medieval Lit, dream visions and animals! Mind if I add you? I'm going to Oxford in October to do medieval English, and my dissertation will be on dream visions. There aren't many of us about who like such things, so I thought it would be nice to chat to someone who shares the interest :-)
hey there! why no entries yet? do you have chat? seems like we have a lot in common. my 3 choices were oxford, cambridge and york. but i ended up going to york because i heard it was the best for medieval lit and david aers went there (he's my dream boat ^_~)... when i saw him in a conference i followed him around like a lost puppy dog clutching my riverside chaucer in a vague hope that he'd sign it.
alas, that didn't happen, but i was TWO PEWS AWAY from a KNEELING DAVID AERS and a DEREK BREWER across the room!!!!!!!!!! *AT CANTERBURY CATHEDRAL*
and just about the you and me being on the same page thing:
i usually feel very out of control in my life. i feel like my life lives me, not the other way around, so my apperance is one of the only things i feel like i have control over, hence my peircings and the hair that i can't decide on, etc.
so i understand the body modification obsession :D
thanks for adding me. it's been nice talking to you about food conspiracies. it's rare to be able to discuss that. i only have one friend who knows what i'm talking about and very few friends who tolerate it when i go off on that.
it seems you're also interested in the history of racism and race in general, as i am. i am biracial (which is its own can of worms) and living in oregon, which, few people know, especially oregonians, is a state whose history is that of racial isolationism. basically, it was the only state let into the union with an exclusion law which was not lifted until the 1920s because federal law forced it to do so (the first draft of it was any black settler could be whipped daily until he left, but that was considered too harsh). i grew up in los angeles, and living here has been difficult. the kkk and various other racist parties, people who were angry of what ethnic people 'caused' to have happen in the civil war moved to oregon because it was appealing to them. this is still very much an issue though many people *aren't aware*. oregon to this day is only 1.8% black and 3.4% asian. anyway. bleah. i just had this lj conversation with someone who was like 'oregon? no! it's a racial paradise!' :/ i was like '... you don't know much about oregon history.'
the chinatown was slated to be much larger, but the kkk ran through it, burning it down. in gold city, they killed all the chinese residents. in pendleton, they blew up the mines with all the chinese down below as they were not allowed to be above ground.
